Surgeon William Parker Jr., 2nd Regiment N.H. Continental Infantry – Original Member

William Parker, Jr. was born in 1750 in Exeter, New Hampshire. He was appointed as a Surgeon’s Mate in the 8th Continental Regiment on January 1, 1776. The 8th Continental Regiment was the designation given to the 2nd New Hampshire Regiment, Continental Line in 1776. It reverted to its previous designation as the 2nd New Hampshire in 1777. On November 8, 1776 Surgeon’s Mate Parker was appointed as Surgeon of the 2nd New Hampshire Regiment. He is listed as being “Present” with the 2nd New Hampshire during its encampment with the Continental Army at Valley Forge. Surgeon Parker resigned from the Army on November 30, 1778.

After the Revolution he became one of the original 30 members of the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of New Hampshire on February 5, 1784.

He was later a Justice of the Peace and register of the Court of Common Pleas for Rockingham County. He died September 15, 1798.
