1st Lt.Joshua Thompson, 1st Regiment N.H. Continental Line
Joshua Thompson was from Londonderry, New Hampshire. He was appointed an Ensign in Captain Ebenezer Frye’s Company of the 1st New Hampshire, Continental Line, on November 8, 1776, but was not on the pay roll until January 1, 1777. He was promoted to a Lieutenancy March 5, 1778, and acted as paymaster for a time. After the war he settled in Concord, New Hampshire. He was a quiet, unobtrusive citizen, of much respectability. In 1824, when the Marquis de Lafayette visited Concord, he paid Lt. Thompson the rare compliment of a visit at his house, the lieutenant being able, on account of age, to join in the ceremonies in honor of the Marquis.
