Jesse Carr

2nd Lt. Jesse Carr, 5th Regiment New Hampshire Continental Foot

Jesse Carr was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in Captain Samuel Richards’ Company of Colonel John Stark’s 1st New Hampshire Regiment on April 23, 1775. On the Company rolls, Goffstown is listed as his residence. He fought in this capacity at the Battle of Bunker Hill. On January 1, 1776, Second Lieutenant Carr was held over as a Second Lieutenant in the 5th Continental Infantry (the temporary designation for the 1st Regiment, New Hampshire Continental Line).

            During the ensuing Siege of Boston, Second Lieutenant Carr died at Medford, Massachusetts in July of 1776 and as such is listed “Dead” on the August 1776 company roll.
